Text description provided by the architects. A rectangular and completely flat property located in an eminently urban setting on a plot that borders on its northern and southern ends of two sharply sloped streets which considerably hamper users’ access to the centre.
The project plans aimed to solve this problem by proposing a low building parallel to the longitudinal east-west axis, setback with respect to the main street, generating a public square between the street and the centre, in this way expanding the pavement area in front of the centre, which was extremely small, to improve accessibility for people from the town and favour its proper functioning. The formalization of the project and the surfaces of the facade, employing panels of naturally coloured pre-cast concrete and dark grey narrow ribbed corrugated metal, seek to establish a harmonious relationships with the immediate surroundings while ensuring an attractive image for this facility.
